Privacy Policy
This policy explains what TripAtlas collects when you plan trips, how that information is used, and the choices you have.
Overview
TripAtlas helps you plan trips and keep your travel details organized. This policy describes the information TripAtlas handles when you use the app and the control you have over it.
Information you provide
When you use TripAtlas you may share details that help build and save your trips, such as:
- Account details, such as your name and email address when you sign in.
- Trip destinations and travel dates.
- Travel preferences, including the pace and style of trip you enjoy.
- Accessibility or dietary preferences, when you choose to enter them.
- Saved places and notes you add to a trip.
- Subscription status, where a paid plan applies.
Information collected automatically
To keep the app reliable, TripAtlas may collect limited technical information, such as:
- Your app version and the platform you are using.
- Basic diagnostics and crash information that help us fix problems.
- Approximate or precise location, only if you turn it on for a feature that uses it.
Location data
Location is optional. You can plan a full trip without sharing it.
- If you deny location access, you can still build, save, and follow your trips.
- When a feature needs your location, the app asks first and explains why.
- You can change or withdraw location permission at any time in your device settings.
TripAtlas does not track your location in the background for advertising.
How TripAtlas uses information
TripAtlas uses the information above to provide and improve trip planning, including to:
- Build, save, and update your trips.
- Generate day-by-day plans around real places.
- Show relevant places, neighborhoods, and maps.
- Improve the quality and relevance of recommendations.
- Keep key trip details available offline, where supported.
- Manage your account and any subscription access.
- Provide support and protect the security of the service.
AI and travel planning
TripAtlas uses automated travel-planning intelligence to turn your trip details into itinerary suggestions. The trip details you share, such as destinations, dates, and preferences, may be used to generate and improve those suggestions.
Suggestions are a starting point, not a guarantee. Please review any plan and confirm important details, such as availability, opening hours, and travel eligibility, before you rely on it.
Data storage and security
TripAtlas uses reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS.
- Sign-in sessions stored securely on your device.
- Account-protected access to the trips and details tied to your account.
- On-device storage for the trip essentials you keep offline.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data retention
- Your trip data is kept while your account or local app data exists.
- You can delete individual trips where the app supports it.
- You can request deletion of your account and its associated data.
- Some records may be retained where needed for security, fraud prevention, transaction history, or legal reasons.
